Farm House, Dapoli, Maharashtra

Project Year : 2018
Status : Completed

The house built on a picturesque site with a well and a few trees balances the elements of warmth and luxury while upholding the functionality of the space. The design plays on the idea of ‘Regional Modernism’ by merging two of the local architectural styles of the region: the language of thick Laterite stone walls and sloping roofs with Mangalore tiles of the Konkan vernacular architectural style and the modern style with the sky lights for a double height living room. The house deploys a wide range of sustainable systems including, rain water collection with underground cistern, grey water recycling, and passive cooling using thermal mass walls and mobile shade panels.
